Heat-resistant scratch layers
Civil engineering structures such as bridges are sometimes fitted with a bituminous waterproofing membrane. In this case, it is of utmost importance that no cavities or pores are present before this membrane is burned onto the bridge surface.
Epoxy resins to which selected fillers are added can be used here as a scraper layer to reduce the risk of cavities and pores to an absolute minimum and to obtain a smooth surface. This epoxy resin resists the temperature and the open flame with which the bituminous membrane is subsequently burned onto the scraper layer.
